Quantity | Ingredient | |
---|---|---|
1 | Dozen ripe peaches; sliced, (*) see note | |
2 | cups | Flour |
1 | cup | Sugar |
1 | cup | Butter or margarine; melted |
2 | teaspoons | Baking powder |
1 | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | teaspoon | Vanilla |
1 | cup | Milk |
1 | cup | Sugar |
½ | cup | Water |
Directions
SUGAR WATER GLAZE
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice the peaches into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking pan. Mix together the flour, sugar, melted butter or margarine, baking powder, salt, vanilla and milk. Pour this mixture evenly over the sliced peaches. In a measuring cup, mix together the sugar and water and pour this mixture over the batter. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.
NOTES : (*) Depending on the size of the peaches you may need more or less.
You want the layer of peaches to be thick. I have never used canned peaches with this recipe, so I cannot tell you how well it will work. I halve this recipe for our family of 4.
