Tofu french fries with spicy peanut sauce
8 servings
Quantity | Ingredient | |
---|---|---|
2 | pounds | Firm tofu |
3 | tablespoons | Vegetable oil |
5 | tablespoons | Smooth peanut butter |
3 | tablespoons | Brown sugar |
4 | tablespoons | Tamari soy sauce |
1 | teaspoon | Cayenne |
1 | teaspoon | Minced garlic |
1 | tablespoon | Water; to 2 tbsp |
Cut the tofu into pieces the size and shape of french fries. Brush the pieces lightly with the oil. Spread in 1 layer on a cookie sheet and place under the broiler. Broil both sides for about 10 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
Mix together the peanut butter, brown sugar, tamari, cayenne, and garlic.
Add enough of the water to give the sauce a creamy consistency. Use as a sauce or dip.
Serves 8 as an entree. Also makes a fun hors d'oeuvre.
