Ingredients
Quantity | Ingredient | |
---|---|---|
1 | cup | Ice Water |
½ | teaspoon | Yellow Food Coloring; optional |
2 | tablespoons | Corn Oil |
1 | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | cup | Flour |
1 | teaspoon | Baking Powder |
Directions
Combine water, food coloring, oil and salt. Gradually add flour, stirring rapidly with a whisk. Just before using, stir in baking powder. Dip fish fillets in batter and deep fry. This makes a very thick, crispy batter. The food coloring gives it a golden color.
Serving Ideas : Homemade French Fries NOTES : I last made this in the summer of 1993. I served it with homemade French fries and passed a bottle of malt vinegar.
