Black-eyed pea chowder

Ingredients

1 pounds Bacon
1 cup Celery -- chopped
1 cup Chopped onion
1 cup Green pepper -- chopped
2 cans Blackeyed peas -- 16 oz

Rinsed and drained
1 can Beef consomme -- 10 1/2 oz
2 cans Stewed tomatoes -- 14 1/2 oz

Directions

In a saucepan, cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon; crumble and set aside. Discard all but 2 tablespoons of drippings. Saute celery, onion and green pepper until tender. Add bacon and all remaining ingredients; heat through. Yield: 2¼ qts.
