Chocolate pecan waffles with fruit topping

½ | teaspoon | Baking soda |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
½ | cup | Buttermilk or sour milk |
½ | cup | Chopped pecans |
Directions

Blend cocoa and butter until smooth; stir in sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine flour, soda, and salt. Add alternately with buttermilk to cocoa mixture. Stir in pecans. Bake in waffle iron. Serve with butter and maple syrup or one of the fruit toppings below. About 10 4" waffles Apple-Cinnamon Topping 21 oz can apple pie filling 1 Tbsp butter ⅛ tsp cinnamon Heat pie filling, butter, and cinnamon in a small saucepan until warm.
