Double date sauce
1 Servings
Ingredients
Quantity | Ingredient | |
---|---|---|
½ | cup | Light brown sugar |
½ | cup | Water |
1 | tablespoon | Cornstarch |
½ | cup | Sliced dates |
1½ | teaspoon | Fresh lemon juice |
¼ | teaspoon | Vanilla |
Directions
Stir sugar, water, cornstarch in saucepan. Add dates and butter. Simmer, stirring occasionally, over medium heat for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Stir in lemon juice and vanilla. Serve hot or warm over frozen yogurt, fruit or pound cake. But....for the taste of heaven, poke holes in the top of the date cake I sent a few months ago and drizzle this over the cake, let set a few hours, then serve with assurance that none will be left. This recipe makes about 1 cup. I never double recipe, I suppose you could. I just make separate batches. Don't want to spoil a good thing.
