Hungarian cabbage and noodles

1 | pounds | Shredded cabbage; (3 1/2c.) |
1 | teaspoon | Salt |
½ | teaspoon | Shortening |
1 | small | Onion; chopped |
Salt and pepper to taste | ||
¼ | pounds | Noodles (wide); about 2 c. |
Directions
Mix cabbage with salt and allow to stand ½ hour. Squeeze dry. Heat shortening in skillet and saute cabbage onion, stirring occasionally until cabbage is lightly browned and tender. Season with salt and pepper. Cook noodles; drain. Mix noodles with cabbage, heat and serve.
