Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, blend the butter, sugar, egg and vanilla. With an electric mixer on low speed, add the flour and baking powder; mix well. Place the dough on a lightly floured board and divide it into 4 equal parts. Shape each part into a roll approximately 12 inches long and ¾ inch thick. Place the rolls on an ungreased cookie sheet about 4 inches apart and 2 inches from the edge of the pan. Using a wooden spoon (or knife) handle (or even your finger), make lengthwise depression in the center of each roll, about ¼ - ⅓ inch deep. Fill the depressions with jam and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
While still warm, cut diagonally into ¾ inch slices.
Yield: About 30 bars
