Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
cup Shortening
4 Eggs
2 cups Sugar
3 cups Flour
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Baking salt
1 cup Milk
1 cup Chopped walnuts
Grated rind of 2 oranges

Directions

Topping: Mix 1 cup sugar and juice of 2 oranges.

Cream together shortening, eggs and sugar. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to shortening mixture. Add nuts and rind. Pour batter into 2 greased 9x5 loaf pans. Bake at 350* 55 - 60 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Then spoon topping over bread. Cool 10 more minutes; remove from pans.
