Spicy meat sauce for pizza

Ingredients

8 | ounces | Italian sausage |
28 | ounces | Tomato puree -- italian style |
2 | teaspoons | Hot chili peppers -- finely chopped |
2 | Cloves garlic -- minced | |
1 | Bay leaf | |
1 | teaspoon | Black pepper |
Directions
Saute the sausage meat in a skillet over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a fork as it cooks. Drain and set aside.
Combine the remaining ingredients in a 3 qt saucepan, then stir in the reserved sausage. Cover, and bring to a boil. Uncover, lower the heat, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust the seasonings to taste. May be frozen if using fresh sausage.
