Strawberry preserves #2

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 quart Strawberries
3 cups Sugar; divided

Directions

Put strawberries & 1-½ cups sugar in large pan & boil 5 minutes. Add remaining sugar; boil 10-15 minutes. Spoon into earthenware jar, skim off foam, cover & let sit 24 hours. Stir occasionally. Put preserves in clean, sterilized jars; seal. Never cook more than one quart of berries at one time. Yields 2 pints.
