1 | cup | Milk |

1 | medium | Onion; chopped |
1 | tablespoon | Salt |
¼ | teaspoon | Pepper |
2 | pounds | Ground beef |
1 | pounds | Ground pork |
2 | tablespoons | Butter (or marg.) |
¼ | cup | Sugar, brown; firmly packed |
2 | tablespoons | Cornstarch |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
20 | ounces | Pineapple chunks |
⅓ | cup | Vinegar |
1 | tablespoon | Soy sauce |
4 | ounces | Pimientos; cut in strips |
1 | large | Green pepper; cut in strips |
Directions
SAUCE
Trim crust from bread; tear bread into small pieces. Pour milk over bread in a large bowl and let stand several minutes. Add eggs; beat with a rotary beater until smooth. Add onion, salt, pepper, and meat; mix well.
Shape into a loaf in a shallow baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1-¾ hours or until done. Cool 15 minutes before slicing. Serve slices topped with Sauce.
Sauce:
Melt butter; add brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt, stirring until smooth. Drain pineapple; add syrup to sauce mixture, stirring to keep smooth. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add vinegar, soy sauce, pineapple chunks, pimiento, and green pepper; heat briefly.
Yield: about 2 cups.
