Berry citrus squares

2 | cups | Finely crushed pretzels |
⅓ | cup | Sugar |
⅔ | cup | Butter or margarine melted |
2 | cups | Boiling water |
1 | pack | (8-serving size) JELL-O Brand Strawberry Flavor Gelatin |
1 | cup | Cold water |
1½ | teaspoon | Grated lime peel |
1 | pint | Vanilla ice cream softened |
8 | ounces | COOL WHIP Whipped Toppingthawed |
Directions
* Or 2 packages (4-serving size) can be substituted for one package (8- serving) size.
HEAT oven to 350øF.
MIX crushed pretzels, ⅓ cup sugar and melted butter in 13x9-inch baking pan. Press firmly onto bottom of pan. Bake 10 minutes. Cool.
STIR boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Stir in cold water and lime peel. Spoon in ice cream, stirring until melted and smooth. Spoon over crust.
REFRIGERATE 3 hours or until firm. Spread whipped topping evenly over top of dessert. Cut into squares. Garnish as desired. Store leftover squares in refrigerator. Makes 15 to 18 servings.
