Mince filling (for pies)

Ingredients

4 | cups | Diced green tomatoes (about 1 1/4 pounds) |
4 | cups | Peeled diced tart apples (about 1 1/2 pounds) |
1 | cup | Raisins |
½ | cup | Honey |
½ | cup | Molasses |
¼ | cup | Cider vinegar |
½ | teaspoon | Nutmeg |
1 | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
(original also called for 2 tablespoons oil--omitted) |
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a 3-5 quart saucepan and simmer 25 minutes. Put into sterilized warm pint jars leaving ¼ inch space at the top. Process in a steam canner or boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
makes 3 pints.
To use: pour 1 pint into an 8 inch baking dish and cover top with pastry.
Bake at 400 for 12-15 minutes until brown and serve warm.
