Mulled cranberry cider - country living

Ingredients

1 quart Apple cider
1 quart Cranberry-juice cocktail
1 tablespoon Firmly packed light- brown sugar
2 3-inch cinnamon sticks
8 Whole cloves
¼ teaspoon Ground nutmeg (opt.)
8 8-inch cinnamon sticks (opt.)
Apple slices (opt.)

Directions

1. In 4-quart saucepan, heat cider, cranberry juice cocktail, sugar, 3-inch cinnamon sticks, the cloves, and nutmeg, if desired, to boiling over high heat. Reduce heat to medium; cover and simmer 10 minutes.

2. Ladle hot cider into mugs or cool to room temperature and serve over ice. Garnish each serving with a cinnamon stick and slice of apple, if desired,
