Peanut sauce for ice cream

Ingredients

1 | cup | Dark corn syrup |
1 | cup | White sugar |
⅛ | teaspoon | Salt |
2 | tablespoons | Butter or margarine |
½ | cup | Milk |
1 | teaspoon | Peanut butter flavor |
¼ | teaspoon | Vanilla extract |
½ | cup | Chopped, blanched, roasted, salted peanuts, optional |
Directions
combine corn syrup, sugar, salt, butter, and milk in large heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constatnly, until mixture comes to a boil. Boil gently 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat. Stir in Peanut butter flavor and vanilla extract.
If desired, stir in chopped peanuts. Cool completely. Store sauce in covered container in refrigerator. Makes 2 cups, 2 tbsp per serving. Delicious served with ice cream or over banana splits.
