Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 pounds Turnips; peeled and cubed
2 mediums New potatoes; unpeeled and cubed
1 each Bay leaf
4 cups Water
1 medium Onion; chopped
2 tablespoons Bacon drippings
½ teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Pepper
teaspoon Red pepper
2 tablespoons Minced fresh parsley

Directions

Combine turnips, potatoes, bay leaf, and water in a Dutch oven.

Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Drain; remove bay leaf.

Saute onion in bacon drippings until tender. Add turnips, potatoes, salt, pepper, and red pepper; toss gently. Spoon into serving dish; sprinkle with parsley.
