Aunt mildred's fruit squares
1 Servings
Ingredients
Quantity | Ingredient | |
---|---|---|
½ | pounds | Butter or margarine; (not the low-fat kind) |
2 | cups | Sugar |
4 | Eggs | |
1 | teaspoon | Vanilla |
3 | cups | Flour |
1 | can | Fruit pie filling |
Directions
Cream the butter or margarine with the sugar. Add the four eggs, beating in one at a time. Add 1 tsp vanilla and 3 cups flour. Pour ¾ of the batter on a greased and floured cookie sheet. Spread can of pie filling over batter. Spoon rest of batter by tsp over top (won't cover completely, just drop at intervals) Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes. When cool, may sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired. Cut into squares.
Notes: If using cherry pie filling, may add almonds on top. If using apple pie filling, may add raisins and nuts. I have never tried these variations.
I have increased the amount of pie filling and I think I may have doubled the recipe once, using a sheet cake pan. I never add the powdered sugar. I have used blueberry, strawberry, and cherry fillings. These freeze well.
