Creamed chip beef

5 | ounces | Dried Beef, Shredded (2 1/2 Oz Jars Or Packages) |
2 | tablespoons | Unbleached Flour |
⅛ | teaspoon | Freshly Ground Black Pepper |
2 | cups | Milk |
4 | ounces | Fresh Mushrooms, Chopped (About 1 cup) |
6 | eaches | Slices Of Bread |
Directions
In a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter add the dried beef and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until crisp.
Add the flour and pepper, stir until well blended. Gradually add the milk; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat to low; cook until mixture is slightly thickened. Stir in the mushrooms and cook 3 to 5 minutes or until the mixture is heated through.
Meanwhile, toast the bread and cut into triangles. Serve with the chipped beef or serve the chipped beef over the triangles.
