Split pea stew

1 | Onion,cut into eights | |
6 | cups | Water |
1 | cup | Dry Split Peas |
1 | Lime,juice and rind | |
2 | teaspoons | Salt |
¼ | teaspoon | Nutmeg |
¼ | teaspoon | Turmeric |
16 | ounces | Whole Kernel Corn,drained |
16 | ounces | Carrots,drained |
Directions
In a dutch oven, brown beef with bacon. Add onion and 2 cups water.
Simmer 1 hour. Add 4 cups of water, split peas, lime juice and rind, salt, nutmeg and turmeric. Simmer one hour more. Add corn and carrots. Heat therough, serve.
