Rhineland sweet-sour red cabbage

4 slices Bacon -- diced
¼ cup Brown sugar
2 tablespoons Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
teaspoon Pepper
½ cup Water
¼ cup Vinegar
1 medium Head red cabbage --
Shredded
1 small Onion -- finely chopped

Directions

Cook bacon in skillet or slow-cooking pot with browning unit. Set bacon aside. Combine 1 tbs. of bacon drippings in slow-cooking pot with sugar, flour, salt, and pepper. Stir in water and vinegar; add cabbage and onion.

Cover and cook on low 3 to 4 hours. Spoon into serving bowl; sprinkle cooked bacon on top.
