Scalloped cabbage with cheese whiz

4 | cups | Shredded cabbage |
2 | cups | Water |
1 | teaspoon | Salt |
4 | tablespoons | Butter |
¼ | teaspoon | Pepper |
1 | cup | Milk |
½ | cup | Liquid from cabbage |
4 | tablespoons | Flour |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | cup | Cheez Whiz |
Directions
SAUCE
Cook cabbage for 10 minutes. Drain. Save ½ cup liquid for sauce.
Sauce: 1 medium onion, finely chopped Melt butter in 2 quart saucepan, blend in salt and pepper and flour. Stir in milk and cabbage liquid. Cook stirring constantly until sauce thickens. Boil 1 minute. Add onion and Cheez Whiz. Cook until cheese melts. Place drained cabbage in buttered dish (baking). Cover cabbage with sauce and mix with fork. Top with cheese cracker crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bubbly and brown on top.
